ABOUT THE VIKINGS CHOSEN:
Torin, a Norsemen hardened by battle, is the youngest general in his people’s history. Now nineteen, he was raised with a blade in his hand and the deck of a longboat under his feet. But power comes with a price, and his is service to Magnus, a bloodthirsty king who rules with an iron fist. Torn between his duty to his clan, and his allegiance to his king, Torin will have to fight if he is to have any chance at forging a future for himself or his people.
Allete, an English princess, is as fierce as she is beautiful. She’s eager to make her own choices in her life, but she’s bound by the duty of her station. Her upcoming wedding, arranged by her parents to placate a potential ally, is far from what she would want for her future. Allete desires to fight for her own people, not be shipped off to a foreign land as a pawn in some silly, political game played by the powerful and foolish.
But the thought of an inconvenient marriage is the farthest thing from her mind when a horde of screaming Norsemen launches themselves over the bow of her schooner, which was meant to take her to her betrothed. Now, bound and gagged, Allete is hauled roughly back to the Viking ship that overtook them. She fights back, until a rough blow to the head makes everything go dark. The last thing she sees before the light goes out is the face of the Viking general, surprisingly young and startling handsome, bending low to stare into her eyes. Little do they know, this single act will change the course of history for both of their races.
Back in Ravenscar, the Viking Oracle prophesies the end of Hakon Clan. She foretells of wars and famine, each brought on by the folly of the king. But the people are not without hope. A foreigner, a princess from another land, possessed with a gift of healing, shall come and offer them her skill. But the question remains—will her unusual talents be accepted or will she be offered up to Odin on the point of a spear?
