Kelly Risser Takes on UtopYA 2015

We have several Clean Teen and Crimson Tree Publishing authors who will be attending UtopYA 2015 this year in Nashville, TN. To celebrate the upcoming book convention, we will be sharing a series of blog posts between now and June about the authors attending the convention. Even if you aren’t coming to UtopYA Con this year, these posts will have some exciting information about your favorite authors and more. If you want to learn more about UtopYA Con, check it out here.

UtopYA Questions and Answers with KELLY RISSER:

1. Which of your newest titles (with genre) are you most excited about sharing with the UtopYA Attendees?

I cannot wait to share Always Remembered, the third book in the Never Forgotten series. Never Forgotten literally debuted at last year’s UtopYA Con in the form of an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC). I was so nervous, because last year was so many firsts for me. UtopYA was my first author conference, first book signing, and first time meeting the lovely ladies at Clean Teen Publishing. I had nothing to fear – it was an awesome and fun experience.

This year, Always Remembered is releasing on June 16, 2015. Once again, one of my books will debut at UtopYA. How exciting is that?

2. Why did you choose to go to UtopYA?

So many reasons! I may be an author, but I’m also a reader and fangirl. Last year, I barely fit everything into my suitcase flying home because I bought too many books. This year, I’m driving. This could be good or bad. Good for me to pick up great reads and get them signed by the authors, but bad for my checking account!

I’m also curious about some of the new session formats for this year. I already have several in mind to attend. And, most importantly, I’m really looking forward to meeting the readers and bloggers who have read and supported my books. I look forward to thanking them in person.

3. What are you most looking forward to at UtopYA?

Catching up with my friends and making new ones. The industry information and networking are priceless, but it’s those bonding moments where you just have fun that are just as, if not more, important. I also need to get my copy of Fractured Glass signed by all my co-authors, and hopefully do the same with Twists in Time. I like collecting signed books!

4. What can attendees look forward to seeing at your Clean Teen Publishing Booth?

I will have copies of the entire Never Forgotten series, as well as the Twists in Time anthology that contains my short-story, What You Wish For. I’ll bring bookmarks, postcards, and other fun swag. I plan to give away the lovely pencil cup, mermaid locket, mermaid bookmark, and ring pictured in the attached photograph. I may stuff other goodies in there before June, too. You never know. I love sparkly!

5. Tell us one interesting fact that UtopYA attendees should know about you.

I can’t think of one major thing, so I’ll give you a few, smaller ones. I’m a huge Disney and Harry Potter fan. I can’t tell a good joke to save my life, but I like to hear them. I also can’t sing, but that doesn’t stop me from singing along in my car. (Early apology to fellow CTP author, Sandy Goldsworthy, who is carpooling with me from Wisconsin to Tennessee.) I can always be bribed with chocolate-covered pretzels or pretty much any flavor of ice cream.
